Battle for the District Championship: Dunham vs Episcopal

No better way to end a regular season football game than, with the battle for the District Championship. The Dunham Tiger took an early lead over the Episcopal Fighting Knights when LSU Commit Senior, Derek Stingley ran for a 30-yard touchdown. Stingley had 3 touchdowns throughout the entire game, and that was just the beginning of him unleashing his talents. He also played defensive back, where he helped his team continuously stopped the Fighting Knights, making big tackles and great man to man coverage when needed. Senior, Quarterback, Reed Godbery helped lead this Tiger offense down the field, late in the 3rd quarter he scored his first touchdown of the night. Another key component to this offense was Senior, Runningback, Treylan Mouton he aggressively moved the ball on the ground, and up the field countless times to help the team, and one of those drives resulted in a 24-yard touchdown. As great as the offense was for the Tigers, the defense matched their energy and then some. Holding the Fighting Knights, making them go 3 and out a few times, and making the big stops when needed. One of the most impactful players for this defense Senior, Jordan Roberson, between his speed, technique, and drive he was a force to be reckoned with out there. Roberson also had 2 interceptions, that helped the Tiger offense to continue to put points on the board.

As for the Episcopal fighting Knights, they fought until the scoreboard had no time left on it. They came out strong, fighting each and every snap to try and win the district championship. Senior, Runningback, Austin Jemison had some great runs helping the Fighting Knights drive down the field. Senior, Runningback, Brandan Garrido stepped up and ran for 45 yards to gain a 1st down when the Fighting Knights were on their way to go 3 and out. This gave the offense more momentum to keep that drive alive. It takes more than just one side of the ball, to fight in a game. The defense had some great stops against the Tigers. Early in the 1st quarter, after the first 3 and out the Tigers gave to their offense, they quickly responded and returned the favor to the Tigers. This was the starting point of the battle for the District Championship. Although only one team could earn the title, both teams seasons did not end here. The Dunham Tigers and The Episcopal Fighting Knights will advance to the first round the playoffs next week. Dunham Tigers close out their regular season 10-0 and the Episcopal Fighting Knights finished 6-4.
