Cajuns fall to Bulldogs on the road

By: Dave Parks, Intern

RUSTON- The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns were unable to keep up with the high-powered offense of Louisiana Tech and fell to the Bulldogs, 43-14. The Cajuns are now 1-3 on the year, but still have time to turn things around.

The Cajuns scored first with a with a nice 49-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Nixon to Elijah McGuire, but Louisiana Tech quickly answered with a touchdown of their own to tie the score at seven before the end of the first quarter. Tech scored the next 29 points before Nixon was able to run one in from five yards out in the third quarter.ul vs tech

Nixon led the Cajuns’ passing attack going 17/33 for 161 yards and a touchdown. Brooks Haack went 2/4 with 21 yards. McGuire paced the Cajun’s running game with 84 yards, and Nixon added 54 yards and a touchdown. McGuire also led the team with 70 yards receiving on three catches and a touchdown. Gary Haynes had two receptions for 31 yards and Jamal Robinson and Al Riles each had over 20 yards receiving. Kicker Stevie Artigue was a perfect 2/2 on extra points.

The Cajuns will return home to Cajun Field to take on Conference foe, the Texas State Bobcats. The Bobcats are 1-3 on the year and are allowing over 500 yards a game, so hopefully the Cajuns’ offense can get back on track. The game’s kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and will be shown on ESPN3.
