Off the ball he has a good first step on defensive lineman and uses his hands well to keep blocks in front of him. He pinches the end and can get to the linebacker at the next level of the defense on run plays. Austin is a smart offensive lineman and very experienced having played at both tackle and guard. Going into his senior year, the offensive line at Holy Cross is expected to be a huge strength for the team and Austin is looking forward to a successful season.

When did you start playing football?

I started playing football when I was 4 years old. When I was younger I wasn’t too sure of it, but as I got older I just fell in love with it. I’ve been playing ever since, never took any breaks in between just kept playing.

What do you love about football?

I love the teammates you make, the comradery, how you get close to some people, you learn. Everything is not on you it’s a team sport.

Growing up, did you play any other sports?

When I was 4 or 5 I played tee ball, but I wasn’t a big fan of it, so I didn’t stick with that. I played basketball for a little bit and I currently play track and field throwing the shotput and discuss.

What would you consider are your main strengths as a player?

Being able to block people into the ground, pancake them I would say. I’m an aggressive and physical player. I like to play until the whistle, finish through the play I don’t quit early.

How do you feel your Junior season went?

I feel like my junior season could of went better because I had a little high ankle sprang in the beginning of the season that kind of held me back. I feel like if that wouldn’t have happened, I would of did better but overall it was a good year for me. A key moment for me was against Chalmette when I sealed off the end and our running back scored an 85-yard touchdown. That was nice to feel that part of that was because of me.

What area of your game do you want to improve on this offseason?

I want to improve on my pass block, whenever someone goes inside I want to be able to pound down and not give up the inside as quick. That’s one thing I want to work on a lot.

Any other camps you plan on going to this summer?

I plan on going to camps when coaches ask me to go. Whether it be anybody if coach reaches out to me I will go.

What are your expectations for your senior year?

My expectations for my senior year as a team I hope is to win district and state. That hasn’t been done in a while at Holy Cross so it will feel good for my senior year. Individually for me I would like to make All-state and receive a DI offer.

What would college coaches be most impressed about with you?

I think they would be most impressed with my work ethic, I never quit I’m always willing to do more than what they ask. I always want to learn, and I always look forward to going into film to see what I did wrong, so I can get better and improve on that.

What would you like to major in while in college?

I would like to major in construction management. Because my dad was a project manager and I want to follow his footsteps.
