NEW ORLEANS SAINTS OVER TAMPA BAY 30-10

The NEW ORLEANS SAINTS defeated Tampa Bay 30-10 to improve to 6-2. The Saints, who have won six consecutive games after starting 0-2, are the third team in the Super Bowl era to win its next six games immediately following a 0-2 start. The other two teams to accomplish the feat – 1993 Dallas Cowboys and 2007 New York Giants – both won the Super Bowl in that season.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees completed 22 of 27 passes (81.5 percent) for 263 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 131.9 passer rating. Brees has 225 career passing touchdowns at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the most in NFL history by a quarterback at a single stadium.

There was some controversy with officials that I felt compelled to write about after New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Winston got into a verbal altercation on the sideline. As Lattimore attempted to walk away, Winston gave him a “poke” on the back of the neck resulting in Lattimore turning around and giving Winston a push. It looked like it was over but then out of nowhere, and from behind, Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans attacked Lattimore and threw punches after he was down!  On a day when A.J. Green and Jalen Ramsey were ejected for like behavior in Jacksonville, Evans was not ejected or even penalized for his actions. The next day it was announced that he would be suspended for one game but the damage is done. OUTRAGEOUS!! There has been some really bad game changing calls by the officials over the last few weeks.

There is an NFL rule that ejections cannot be issued based upon replays, so apparently none of the officials witnessed the event. Hmmm, everyone else did including Coach Payton who looked like he was going to take care of the issue himself when he started toward the Tampa sideline before being headed off by officials. I do not condone violence but I have to admit I thought “go get em Sean”. I  think I actually said it out loud…..

Anyway back to positive issues. I have been stating from the beginning of the season that I felt the Saints were going to play offs and it looks more and more like that may come to fruition.
