Tulane vs Cincinnati

The first touchdown of the night was scored by Tulane’s backup Quarterback, Justin McMillan. McMillan completed a 17 yard pass to Wide Receiver Darnell Mooney to put the first Green Wave 6 points on the board. This steered the Green Waves’ momentum in the right direction going into this game against the undefeated Cincinnati Bearcats. This was a score for score game within 20 minutes of the first half.Tulane’s football team scored 2 touchdowns from Running back Darius Bradwell and Wide Receiver Darnell Mooney before the half. Darius Bradwell had 88 yards on 16 carries, leading Tulane’s offense. While the backup Quarterback, Justin McMillan, played majority of the snaps going 11/26 for 130 yards and scoring 2 touchdowns. Freshman Running back, Amare Jones, also made his debut with 166 all-purpose yards and 145 of them being on kickoff returns.

Tulane’s powerful defense forced 2 fumbles from Cincinnati’s offense during the game along with many drives that the Green Waves put a halt to. Therefore, the Bearcats could not put points on the board. Defensive End, Patrick Johnson, not only forced a fumble, but tipped the ball that led to an interception for Tulane, all while having 6 tackles and a sack. Another contributing factor to this dominating defense was Linebacker, Zachery Harris. He had a season high of 13 tackles in this entire game. These are only a few of the many assets this defense has.

This may not have been the ideal game for the Green Waves, but this game definitely showed them the do’s and don’ts moving forward. Out of all the skilled players and coaching staff, there is no doubt this team has the “full” package. Tulane’s Football team just needs to make everything become more in sync. Despite the team’s best efforts, they trailed the Bearcats 37-21 as the final score. Catch the Green Waves next home game against SMU on October 20th; definitely a rematch you do not want to miss!
