Diamond In The Rough: Cameron George

Cameron George is a class of 2021 defensive end out of Acadiana High School in Lafayette, Louisiana. He is 6’2″ and weighs 240 pounds. He is an excellent run defender. He uses his hands well to shed off blockers. His motor is excellent and he never gives up on a play. George has been 1st Team All-District, 2nd Team All-Acadiana and All-State Honorable Mention. He holds a 4.0 GPA.

When did you begin playing football and was there anything specific that motivated you to play?

I started playing football when I was seven. I started off playing flag football and watching my brothers play. Those two things made me want to play even more.

What would you say is your favorite thing about your position?

I like that I am able to change the game in many ways. I can change the impact of the game or I can rush the passings, those are some things I like doing.

Did you have any specific goals for this season?

This year, I really want to go out and be a leader and lead my team to where we’d like to be at. I want to continue to help everyone get better.

How do you think coaches and teammates would describe you as a player?

They would say I am hardworking. I lead by example and I am humble I am someone who will do whatever I can to win.v

What has football taught you about yourself or life?

It has definitely taught me how to overcome adversity. It’s taught me how to keep a positive attitude during negative times. Football has helped me with that aspect of life.

What’s your favorite thing about playing football in Louisiana?

I would have to say the physicality. Other states and schools do not have the same physicality as Louisiana.

What would you tell younger players who want to play high school football one day?

I would tell them to work hard and watch film. They also need to always make sure their grades are up.

What would you say are some of your strengths on the field?

I would say my explosiveness is a strength. I also have a great IQ and technique.

Three words to describe yourself?

Quiet, intelligent, and humble are three words.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

It’s always been a dream to be a professional football player. Luckily for me, I have a backup plan of trying to become a Veterinarian. I’d like to go to school and major in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.

How do you prepare for an upcoming game?

Throughout the week, I practice hard and watch a lot of film to see what I will have to do for the upcoming game.

What hobbies do you have?

Usually, I just go out and hang with my friends and teammates. I play video games a little from time to time with my brother
