Diamond In The Rough: Jabez Allen

Jabez Allen is a class of 2021 running back out of White Castle High School in White Castle, Louisiana. Allen is 5’8″ and weighs 165 pounds. He runs the 40 at 4.28 seconds. He is an elusive runner who has an excellent quickness. As a two way player, he has sound cover skills on defense. He is also on the Basketball and Track & Field team at White Castle, and holds a 3.2 GPA.

At what age did you begin playing football and what motivated you to play this sport?

I started playing football at the age of six. My brother motivated me to play football because he played as well.

How would you say that Basketball and Track help you on the football field?

I am a point guard on the basketball team. Basketball helps with cutting ability on the field. I run the 100, 200, 4×1, and 4×2 in track. Track helps my speed get better for football.

What’s your favorite thing about your position in football?

My favorite thing is just getting up an open field and making plays for my team.

What are some goals you have for this season?

This season, I want to win a State Championship since we fell short last year.

How do you think coaches and teammates would describe you as a player?

My coaches and teammates would describe me as a very ambitious and driven player.

What has football taught you about yourself or life?

Football has taught me that whatever I put my mind to, I can really do. Anything is possible

What’s your favorite thing about playing football in Louisiana?

My favorite thing is hearing the crowds yell when you do something spectacular for your team.

What would you bring to a college team as a student and athlete? What are you looking for out of one?

I would bring a lot of energy! I would also bring big time plays. What I am looking for out of a college is a home.

What would you say are some of your strengths on the field?

I would say my speed, athletic abilities, and my footwork are my biggest strengths on the field.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years, I see myself being a very successful person.

Three words to describe yourself?

Hardworking, ambitious, and energetic are three words to describe me!

What is one thing could you not go a day without?

I can not go without listening to music before a game!

What activities are you involved in besides sports?

I like to play video games!

Are there any college or NFL athletes that you look up to or try to model your play style after?

I look up to Tavon Austin.
