Owls Outlast Green Wave: Tulane 21, Temple 29

The Tulane Green Wave dropped to 6-4 on the season following a 21-29 loss at Temple (7-3) this Saturday in a game that was never in question for the Owls.

Tulane’s offense struggled to get much going throughout the contest, untypical of the Green Wave who have been rather efficient all season long. Tulane did not score until the 2 minute mark with the first half waning, as Cameron Carroll took a 5 yard carry for the first Wave touchdown of the day. Defensively, the Wave played extremely well considering the below-average offensive performance. Tulane held Temple to 13 first half points, and if not for costly penalties, may have prevented a crucial Owl scoring drive.

The 3rd quarter was dominated by Temple. The Owls scored 12 unanswered points (missed PAT) to push Temple’s lead to 15, while the Green Wave offense continued to struggle.

Tulane’s offense finally began to look as expected, scoring two touchdowns in the 4th quarter. The first coming from an 8 yard scoring carry from running back Darius Bradwell, while Cameron Carroll recorded his 2nd rushing touchdown of the day on a 1 yard keeper. Unfortunately, Temple put up a 4th quarter touchdown as well, while a failed 4th down conversion by the Wave late in the 4th quarter sealed their fate.

OVERVIEW

Overall, a disappointing performance from the Green Wave, especially at the quarterback position. Justin McMillan played his worst game of the season, going 11-27 for 103 yards with 1 interception. Add that to 2 fumbles by the Tulane backfield, the Green Wave simply gave Temple too many opportunities to score in a game where the Wave defense played great, forcing a turnover and played exceptional in the secondary.
