Tulane’s Victory over Memphis

It did not take long for this Tulane offense to get this ball game started. Within the first few minutes of this ball game the running back Corey Dauphine scored the first touchdown on a 2 yard run. As the quarter progressed, the other running back Darius Bradwell scored another touchdown on a 53 yard run. As Darius closed out the first half he rushed for 103 yards on 10 carries. However, the offense were not the only ones showing out this half. The Green Wave defense put a stop to this Memphis offense and their running back Darrell Henderson. This defense has only allowed 135 yards for Memphis entire offense. Going into halftime the Green Waves were leading the Tigers 17-7.

Start of the second half, the Green Wave defense definitely put some fear in the Tigers. With back to back plays, Tulane had tackle for losses by linebacker Zachery Harris and Defensive end Cameron Samples. Throughout the third quarter their defense continued to dominant with 12 tackles amongst the 5 leading defenders, 2 sacks, and 3 tackles for loss as a team. Justin McMillan the backup quarterback came into the end of the 3rd, and threw a 51 yard pass to Darnell Mooney this resulted in another Green Wave touchdown, and was the spark that made Tulane finish the game strong. As the third quarter came to an end Tulane lead Memphis 24-14.

To jump start the 4th quarter Juan Monjarres sacked Memphis quarterback which resulted in a team safety, this is the first accounted safety since 2014 when they played UCONN. Another great touchdown run by Corey Dauphine which was his second of the game. This just continued to prove how many great assets this Tulane football team has. Anything that the defense could have done to stop Memphis they did, from sacks, to man to man coverage, and blocked passes. At Least every defender on this Tulane defense made a standout play.  As the time winded down Tulane continued to stack points on the board. The final score was Tulane 40, Memphis 24 . This game was definitely the IT factor that this team needed to have a great season.
